GOP’s next steps according to Ron Paul

As a follow up to my last post, I found Ron Paul’s recent CNN article very relevant. Here’s a quick blurb:

In the past two years, I found that when the young people heard the message of liberty, they overwhelmingly responded favorably, fully realizing the failure of the status quo and the need to once again endorse a system of self reliance, personal responsibility, sound money, and a non-interventionist foreign policy while rejecting the cradle-to-grave nanny state all based on the rule of law and the Constitution.

To ignore the political struggle and only “hope for the best” is pure folly. The march toward a dictatorial powerful state is now in double time.

All those who care — and especially those who understand the stakes involved — have an ominous responsibility to energetically get involved in the battle of survival for a free and prosperous America.

The New Grand Old Party

A good friend, Jon Scott, wrote a post entitled “political post-natal” and it sums things up much better than I can.

The Republican Party is in desperate need of a face lift, maybe even serious surgery, I think we would all agree there’s much work that needs to be done. Today’s Grand Old Party is disjointed at best and to many has become irrelevant. So what’s to do? There are many things the Republicans can need do to regroup and restructure in order to regain it’s position of true conservatism, here are a few:

  • Renew their pledge to fiscal responsibility, continue tax cuts
  • Aggressive plans for Energy Independence
  • Encourage self-reliance and shrink government - too many people today expect Government to be the answer for all their problems. This is a false hope that needs to be killed, soon, very soon.
  • Love small business
  • Stand firm on national security
  • Save our failing educational system

Much of Gen Y is waiting for the new Republican Party to reach out to them, because they’ve not seen the above in their conscious lifetime. They’ve seen the Republican Party that allowed for a gross expansion of government from 1994-2006. But they know the ideals of conservatism, and they tend to uphold them naturally. It’s time to regroup, rebrand, and reach out.

The Big Media Coverup

I just read a good article by Laura Ingraham in Time’s “Moments to Remeber” segment for election 08.

“More than ever, talk radio and its friends in the blogosphere are essential to the preservation of an informed democracy. No wonder some powerful figures on the left want to bring back the so-called Fairness Doctrine!”

Check it out, it’s short and sweet.

I don’t generalize biased reporting by the amount of time spent talking about someone who’s behind in the polls. It’s a matter of neglecting to investigate certain aspects of candidates based on biases, and that goes for all candidates. I’m not trying to point fingers, but the mainstream media has made their choice clear, when really they shouldn’t have a choice at all — report the facts and let the people decide. We need fair, accurate and balanced reporting as much as it is possible.

Just Vote on Tuesday

Plain and simple, whether you’re undecided or dead-set on a candidate, just go out and vote on Tuesday. I’m urging you to take advantage of the last few hours to look at the issues and dig to see where the candidates stand. Check out their voting records. Attempt to assess their character as best you can. Try your best to sift through the media biases (certain media outlets have clear biases for both candidates).

Make an informed decision!

If you’re on the fence and don’t like either candidate, please consider which one you would rather see in office and don’t waste your vote!

Obama’s middle class definition began at 250k, now dwindling down

As mentioned in my last post, we’ve seen Barack Obama’s definition of the middle class trending downward in recent weeks. In the last presidential debate he said that anyone making less than 250k per year would receive a tax cut. Now we’re seeing campaign ads with him saying those making less than 200k would receive a break. And just last week Joe Biden lowered the bar to 150k.

Still Obama claims that 95% of American’s will receive a tax cut.

With Obama’s planned expansion of government, how will he afford to pay for it by only increasing taxes for 5% of American’s? It’s just not possible. Even CBS News has pointed out this impossibility. That’s one reason why we’re seeing the bar lowering, because in order to afford his budget the bar would need to be dropped to something like 20k.

Regardless of what the final figure will be, the bottom line here is the stark inconsistencies on Obama’s part which to me shows his untruthfullness. For this reason I am supporting John McCain who has a solid plan to rein in government spending, shrink the size of government, and cut taxes for all American’s.

UPDATE -  Here’s another helpful visual to show the inconsistencies.
